Touching up the Roof

Steps 10 through 14: Paint the walls with a beige and mustard-colored paint. Paint the main walls with off-white paint. My favorite part was painting the church. Outline the windows with brown paint and touch up the roof to give it texture. Glue on the cross inside the church. Glue on the friars, tree, bell and cross.

Done for the day!

Step 9: This is where we had another problem; we didn’t have white paint to make the beige paint for most of the outside mission walls. We borrowed some yellow paint from Mrs. Johnson, our neighbor, and made some mustard-colored paint which we used for some of the building. I ended up solving this problem by watching my Dad mix some house paint we had with the brown paint we had!

Step 8: Then paint the green grass for the base of the mission project

Painting the Roof

Step 6 and 7: Finish putting the Styrofoam pieces together. This will take another hour. One problem we had was that the pieces didn’t fit as perfectly as you would think they should. Then, mix the paint for the adobe roof. Use some red and brown paint to make it look a reddish-brown color. Paint the roof pieces. More pictures should be taken

Getting Started

Step 1 - Go to Michaels and have your Mom buy a Mission kit. Have her buy some extra stuff too like mini Friars, a bell, a cross and trees. Don’t buy the animals; they are not the right size; they are too big to scale compared to the friars ans the tree. Also pick up some water-based paint. You’ll need brown, green, red, white and yellow. We also needed some paint brushes. She’ll buy spend about $40.00.
